Job Requirements

  • Must have 2 years experience in full service bar or equivalent
  • Must have accurate mathematic skills
  • Must know preparation of alcoholic beverages
  • Must understand types of liquors, wine and their distinctions
  • Must know menu, specials, wine list, liquor list and recipes
  • Must be knowledgeable about liquor liability laws
  • Must be familiar with accounting procedures
  • Must meet personal schedule requirements punctually
  • Must be courteous, pleasant and good natured
  • Must communicate with and understand average guest
  • Must provide a persona compatible with restaurant image
  • Must stand or walk for long periods while on duty
  • Must work nights, weekends and holidays
  • Must accurately work with and account for large sums of money
  • Must open beer, liquor and wine bottles frequently
  • Must be physically able to move filled glass racks and cases of beverages when bar back is not available

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years experience in full service bar or equivalent
  • Knowledge of alcoholic beverage preparation
  • Familiarity with types of liquors, wines and their use
  • Understanding of liquor liability laws
  • Basic accounting skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests and team
  • Compatibility with the restaurant’s established image
  • Experience operating point of sale systems

Job Duties

  • Arrange and set up beverages, beverage mixes and supplies according to standing operating procedure
  • Complete all side work when assigned
  • Prepare ingredients needed for mixed beverage recipes
  • Safely use equipment and utensils for beverage preparation
  • Prepare beverages as per prescribed recipes including alcohol content
  • Use proper methods to ensure exact alcohol pour measures
  • Count and manage cash drawer accurately
  • Operate all functions of bar service independently if necessary
  • Take and fill food orders from guests seated at the bar
  • Communicate clearly and cordially with co-workers and guests
  • Accurately record and account for all items served
  • Maintain security of bar stock inventory
  • Perform varied duties to ensure all aspects of bar service
  • Assist host staff with answering telephones
