Job Description

This position is open to the public and will be assigned to the Bowling Center at McConnell Air Force Base (AFB), located in Kansas. McConnell AFB is a prominent United States Air Force base that supports the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) activities for the Air Force and Space Force communities. Job Requirements

  • Must complete a background investigation with favorable results
  • Must complete pre-employment physical examination
  • Must meet minimum age requirement for working and/or serving alcoholic beverages
  • Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training
  • Must satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check
  • Must register for Selective Service if applicable
  • Direct deposit is required
  • Pre-employment requirements must be met prior to Entrance on Duty
  • Must meet qualification, eligibility, and background standards for the position
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, national, or owe allegiance to the U.S.
  • Must provide a REAL ID or authorized identity documents to access the installation

Job Qualifications

  • Must have experience mixing alcoholic beverages for retail sale
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of beverages and ability to combine ingredients
  • Ability to follow cash handling procedures
  • Ability to recognize intoxicated or unruly patrons and resolve problems or seek assistance
  • Ability to communicate clearly and possess skill in dealing with public
  • Must be physically able to frequently lift objects weighing 5 to 15 pounds, pull and push objects weighing 10 to 20 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to work in a team and follow management instructions
  • Must meet minimum age requirement for serving alcohol
  • Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate or complete related training

Job Duties

  • Operates a full-service bar
  • Mixes and serves all types of alcoholic or nonalcoholic drinks to order, following established recipes
  • Delivers drinks to bar waiters or serves directly to patrons
  • Receives payments or charges to member's account
  • Washes glasses and other bar equipment
  • Prepares garnishes for mixed drinks
  • Stocks service bar or portable bar for catered functions
  • Manages proper operation of the bar, receipts, and inventory accountability
  • Accepts money, operates cash register, and makes change
  • Prepares documentation for cash funds accountability
  • Recognizes intoxicated or unruly patrons and resolves problems or seeks assistance
  • Performs other duties as assigned
