Job Requirements

  • Must have two years of experience in full service bar or equivalent
  • must possess accurate mathematic skills
  • must have knowledge and experience in preparation of alcoholic beverages
  • thorough knowledge of types of liquors and wine and their distinctions and use
  • must know menu and specials
  • wine list
  • liquor list and recipes for special drinks
  • liquor liability laws and knowledge
  • accounting procedures
  • must meet personal schedule requirements punctually
  • must be courteous, pleasant and good natured
  • must communicate with and understand the average guest
  • must provide a persona compatible with established image of restaurant
  • must stand or walk for long periods of time while on duty
  • must work nights, weekends and holidays
  • must accurately work with and account for large sums of money
  • must open beer, liquor and wine bottles frequently
  • when bar back not available must be physically able to move and transport filled glass rack
  • move cases of beer, wine or liquor

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum two years experience in a full-service bar or equivalent
  • Knowledge and experience in alcoholic beverage preparation
  • Thorough understanding of liquor types, wines and their proper uses
  • Familiarity with menu, specials, wine list and liquor recipes
  • Understanding of liquor liability laws
  • Ability to perform accounting procedures related to bar operations
  • Strong math skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Friendly, courteous and service-focused demeanor

Job Duties

  • Prepare and serve beverages directly to customers at the bar and lounge
  • Arrange and set up beverages, mixes and supplies according to procedure
  • Complete all assigned side work
  • Prepare ingredients needed for mixed beverage recipes
  • Use equipment and utensils safely in beverage preparation
  • Ensure alcohol content and pour measurements follow prescribed recipes and methods
  • Manage cash drawer accurately and responsibly
  • Operate bar service functions independently as needed
  • Take and fill food orders from bar guests using communication and register systems
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers and guests in a courteous and service-oriented manner
  • Record and account for all items served accurately
  • Maintain security and inventory of bar stock
  • Perform duties according to standard operating procedures
  • Assist host staff by answering telephones
