Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalence required
  • minimum 1 year experience as a barback or bartender in a hotel or restaurant
  • must be at least 21 years of age
  • ability to lift and/or carry up to 40 pounds frequently
  • ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • ability to communicate orally and in writing
  • ability to bend, twist, push, pull, stoop, kneel
  • ability to ascend and descend a ladder
  • must be TIPS and Food Safety certified
  • must work flexible scheduled shifts based on business needs
  • must adhere to attendance and reliability standards

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalence

  • excellent communication and organizational skills
  • knowledge of beverages, recipes, correct glassware, and garnishes
  • ability to prioritize and multi-task efficiently
  • understanding of state liquor regulations
  • ability to work in a team and independently
  • proficiency in point-of-sale systems

Job Duties

  • Prepare alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for bars and restaurants in accordance with service standards
  • anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, making recommendations from guests' preferences
  • take guests' food and beverage orders, utilizing suggestive selling techniques
  • complete opening duties including checking quality and quantity of all bar stock and supplies using checklist
  • requisition necessary supplies and transport from storeroom to bar
  • set bar according to service standards
  • prepare fresh fruit garnishes and set up condiments and beverages according to standards
  • ensure sufficient supply of flatware, glassware, and chinaware for service
  • maintain cleanliness and condition of assigned station and service areas
  • record orders into point-of-sale system and receive payments following service procedures
  • adhere to payment, cash handling and credit policies
  • open wine/champagne bottles and serve in accordance with service standards
  • retrieve food orders from kitchen
  • guide activities of bar back to ensure optimum guest service
  • remove soiled wares and clean bar after guests depart
  • collect and report tips at the end of shift
  • complete closing duties and reports and report to supervisor or manager on duty
  • maintain TIPS and Food Safety certification
  • follow all safety, security, and operational policies and procedures
  • work cohesively with co-workers and departments as part of a team
  • adhere to attendance and reliability standards
  • perform additional duties as assigned by management
