Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • ability to stand for extended periods
  • ability to lift and/or carry up to 40 pounds frequently
  • ability to bend, twist, push, pull, stoop, kneel, ascend and descend ladders
  • must be able to speak, understand and communicate the primary language(s) used in the workplace
  • required to work flexible shifts based on business needs
  • must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy
  • adherence to safety and security procedures
  • follow all appropriate policies and procedures
  • Must be TIPS and Food Safety certified as required

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalence
  • minimum 1 year experience as a bartender or barback in a hotel or restaurant
  • TIPS and Food Safety certification
  • excellent communication and organizational skills
  • knowledge of beverages, recipes, correct glassware and garnishes
  • ability to prioritize and multitask efficiently
  • understanding of state liquor regulations
  • ability to work effectively with limited supervision
  • detail oriented with strong problem-solving skills

Job Duties

  • Prepare alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for bars and restaurants in accordance with service standards
  • anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, making recommendations from guests' preferences
  • take guests' food and beverage orders utilizing suggestive selling techniques
  • complete opening duties including checking quality and quantity of bar stock and supplies using checklist
  • requisition necessary supplies and transport from storeroom to bar
  • set bar and condiments according to service standards
  • prepare fresh fruit garnishes
  • ensure sufficient supply of flatware, glassware, and chinaware for service
  • maintain cleanliness and condition of assigned station and service areas
  • record orders into point-of-sale system and receive payment
  • adhere to payment, cash handling and credit policies
  • open wine/champagne bottles and serve according to standards
  • retrieve food orders from kitchen
  • monitor and maintain sanitation and organization of service areas
  • guide activities of bar back for optimum guest service
  • remove soiled wares from bar and clean station after guest departs
  • collect and report tips at shift end
  • complete closing duties and report to supervisor or manager on duty
  • maintain certification such as TIPS and Food Safety
  • follow 4 Keys service standards, standard operation procedures, and safety standards
  • work cohesively with co-workers and departments as part of a team
  • adhere to attendance and reliability standards
  • follow additional duties as assigned by management
