Job Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- ability to stand for extended periods
- ability to lift and/or carry up to 40 pounds frequently
- ability to bend, twist, push, pull, stoop, kneel, ascend and descend ladders
- must be able to speak, understand and communicate the primary language(s) used in the workplace
- required to work flexible shifts based on business needs
- must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy
- adherence to safety and security procedures
- follow all appropriate policies and procedures
- Must be TIPS and Food Safety certified as required
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalence
- minimum 1 year experience as a bartender or barback in a hotel or restaurant
- TIPS and Food Safety certification
- excellent communication and organizational skills
- knowledge of beverages, recipes, correct glassware and garnishes
- ability to prioritize and multitask efficiently
- understanding of state liquor regulations
- ability to work effectively with limited supervision
- detail oriented with strong problem-solving skills
Job Duties
- Prepare alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for bars and restaurants in accordance with service standards
- anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, making recommendations from guests' preferences
- take guests' food and beverage orders utilizing suggestive selling techniques
- complete opening duties including checking quality and quantity of bar stock and supplies using checklist
- requisition necessary supplies and transport from storeroom to bar
- set bar and condiments according to service standards
- prepare fresh fruit garnishes
- ensure sufficient supply of flatware, glassware, and chinaware for service
- maintain cleanliness and condition of assigned station and service areas
- record orders into point-of-sale system and receive payment
- adhere to payment, cash handling and credit policies
- open wine/champagne bottles and serve according to standards
- retrieve food orders from kitchen
- monitor and maintain sanitation and organization of service areas
- guide activities of bar back for optimum guest service
- remove soiled wares from bar and clean station after guest departs
- collect and report tips at shift end
- complete closing duties and report to supervisor or manager on duty
- maintain certification such as TIPS and Food Safety
- follow 4 Keys service standards, standard operation procedures, and safety standards
- work cohesively with co-workers and departments as part of a team
- adhere to attendance and reliability standards
- follow additional duties as assigned by management
