Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in food service or equivalent combination
  • Demonstrated customer service skills
  • Ability to communicate and follow management instructions
  • Ability to lift 10 to 25 pounds
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends
  • Ability to memorize many recipes and operate coffee and payment machines
  • Capacity to follow cash handling policies after training
  • Must be available for nine months per year
  • Willingness to work as essential personnel during emergencies

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • 1 to 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Recent experience in food service preferred
  • Demonstrated customer service skills
  • Ability to communicate and implement management direction
  • Ability to lift 10 to 25 pounds
  • Willingness to work flexible hours in a seven-day per week operation
  • Ability to memorize recipes and use coffee machines, cash registers, credit card and gift card machines
  • Capacity to follow cash handling policies and procedures after training
  • Position is for a nine-month term per year
  • Ability to work as essential personnel during campus emergencies

Job Duties

  • Represent the University in a friendly, professional, courteous, and efficient manner
  • Follow all customer service, cash handling, safety, sanitation and quality assurance policies and procedures
  • Communicate with customers about foods served including names, ingredients and preparation methods
  • Enforce meal contract and entrance policies fairly and without prejudice
  • Prepare, display, decorate, garnish, serve, re-stock and store ingredients and food items safely and sanitarily
  • Clean and sanitize all work, preparation and customer service areas and tools continuously
  • Control proper portion sizes using appropriate utensils and serving techniques
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen, management and other employees about customer flow, food supplies and service needs
  • Store, label, date and promptly return all food and supplies before, during and after service
  • Assist in clean-up, sanitation, breakdown and setup as directed
  • Attend ongoing training sessions and complete required training with the concept trainer
