Job Duties
- Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important, and appreciated
- answer questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store
- gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and be able to respond to questions and make suggestions about products
- adequately prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients in merchandise
- check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell by dates and take appropriate action
- report product ordering shipping discrepancies to the department manager
- prepare and serve coffee and tea drinks that meet quality standards
- produce customer orders with speed and accuracy
- properly handle and maintain all equipment
- respond to orders, questions, concerns, and complaints in a polite and efficient manner
- describe current promotions and new products
- accurately handle cash and credit card payments, following appropriate cash handling procedures with efficiently using Point of Sale iPad system
- serve customers quickly and efficiently, maintaining all core values
- adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
- continually ensure proper temperatures in cases, coolers, and temperature logs
- reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions and notify store management
- practice preventive maintenance by thoroughly inspecting equipment and notify the appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair
- demonstrate a thorough understanding of all the menu offerings
- serve prepared food items such as muffins, bagels, prepackaged sandwiches
- prepare and pack coffee bean purchases for customers
- record and accurately process purchases using the POS system
- collect and process payments including cash, credit, and debit cards
- ensure customer service stations are well stocked
- maintain a clean and hygienic work area
- display merchandise in an attractive and functional manner
- complete opening and closing duties for each shift
- notify management of customer or employee accidents
- report all safety risks, issues, and illegal activity including robbery, theft, or fraud
