Job Requirements

  • Must be a current student of MBTS or Spurgeon College
  • must qualify for the Federal Work Study program via FAFSA
  • Christian with high integrity and actively pursuing a relationship with God
  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • preferred retail or customer service experience
  • knowledge of cash handling principles and practices
  • able to use computer equipment and software used in retail operations
  • able to multitask, analyze workload, and prioritize
  • able to take initiative to complete duties without direct supervision
  • able to learn and utilize new skills and information
  • must work independently and as part of a team
  • excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • positive attitude
  • willingness to learn
  • pass background screening including driving record
  • eligible to work in the United States

Job Duties

  • Greet customers immediately upon arrival
  • engage customers before taking orders
  • educate customers on menu items and answer questions
  • discern customer preferences and make recommendations, including up-selling
  • take orders accurately noting details such as roast, dairy, and syrup preferences
  • receive and process payments, including cash and credit cards
  • serve prepared food items like cookies, pastries, and muffins
  • prepare and serve beverages following recipes
  • keep the bar area and equipment clean
  • brew drip coffee as needed
  • maintain a clean dining area by sanitizing tables and chairs and sweeping floors
  • maintain stock of syrups, bar fridge, pastries, bagged coffee, and merchandise
  • maintain stock of clean mugs and plates
  • complete shift checklist tasks with initials and ensure timely completion before end of shift
  • work ahead or assist next shift as appropriate
  • report equipment maintenance needs
  • comply with health and safety regulations
  • recommend new menu items and communicate customer feedback to managers
