Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- three months of experience in food service, concessions, or customer service
- ability to stand for extended periods
- ability to lift up to fifty pounds
- willingness to work flexible hours including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and events
- adherence to food safety and sanitation standards
- ability to operate POS systems and café equipment
- willingness to undergo criminal background check and possibly drug test
- availability to work at various Amarillo College and offsite locations
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- some college coursework preferred
- three months of experience in food service, concessions, or customer service required
- six or more years of experience preferred
- food handler certification preferred
- excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills
- basic barista and beverage preparation techniques
- knowledge of food prep and safety procedures
- ability to multitask and stay organized
- strong time management and problem-solving abilities
- ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Job Duties
- Support concession stand setup, restocking, and service during on- and off-site events
- maintain inventory of supplies and food items
- rotate stock to reduce waste
- report low stock or equipment issues to the Café Manager
- greet and interact with customers to create a welcoming atmosphere while taking orders accurately and efficiently
- provide knowledgeable assistance about menu items, answer customer questions, and offer personalized recommendations
- accurately handle cash and credit/debit transactions using the point-of-sale (POS) system
- prepare and serve a variety of beverages including coffee, tea, and specialty drinks according to café recipes and standards
- operate and maintain café equipment such as espresso machines, grinders, blenders, and brewers
- maintain beverage quality by following consistency guidelines
- assist with basic food preparation including assembling sandwiches, salads, breakfast items, or grab-and-go meals
- assist with light cooking tasks including the use of grills, ovens, toasters, or fryers
- maintain clean and organized front-of-house areas
- follow proper sanitation and hygiene practices including regular cleaning and disinfecting
- assist with dishwashing and back-of-house cleaning duties
- collaborate with kitchen and back-of-house teams to ensure smooth order preparation
- relay customer feedback, special requests, or complaints promptly
- complete cross-training to support operational continuity
- perform other related duties as required
- actively engage with AC Core Values and support students and community
