Job Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent
- prior food service and customer service experience
- current City of Norfolk food handling training required at time of hire
- excellent time management skills to complete work in a timely manner
- ability to shift priorities
- ability to work independently and as part of a team
- problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment
- strong organizational and critical thinking skills
- attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- motivated and enthusiastic team player
- excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- strong interpersonal skills to communicate with diverse individuals
- proficiency in basic math operations
- FBI fingerprinting and criminal background check may be required for certain roles
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Assists the Dietitian with patient data collection, nutrition screening, and modified menu planning
- maintains a courteous, professional relationship with all organizational staff, patients, families, and guests
- sets up and dismantles assigned station/work area to guarantee smooth operations
- accurately take customer orders including all preferences
- prepares quality beverages (brewed coffee and blended drinks) and serves bakery items by adhering to recipes and presentation standards
- follows CHKD’s operational policies for cash register operation, cash handling, and safety to ensure partner safety
- maintains and cleans beverage machines
- sets up, replenishes, and dismantles cutlery, condiment areas and paper products stations
- stores food in designated areas following food safety and rotation procedures
- maintains merchandising in-service areas
- works on serving line and in dish room as needed
- maintains clean work and dining area by sanitizing counters, tables, kitchen equipment and floors
- assists with catering events
- handles waste disposal and transports to appropriate area
- conducts work within HACCP guidelines and adheres to sanitation procedures
- complies with OSHA and other regulations
- adheres to company policies and standards
- sustains records and documentation for compliance
- may perform any position within the department with proper guidance
- performs all other duties as assigned
