Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds routinely
- basic math skills for cash handling
- availability to work 18-26 hours per week including weekends and holidays
- strong communication skills
- positive attitude
- ability to work independently and as part of a team
- comfort around animals
- ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of a high school diploma, or a GED or 2 years in the field or in a related area, or suitable combination of education and relevant experience preferred
- barista experience preferred, but not required
- training will be provided
- demonstrate a positive attitude driving the ability to work independently on shift and as part of a small, close-knit team
- strong communication skills, with the ability to engage with diverse customers and team members
- comfortability around animals and passion for supporting the mission of KC Pet Project
- ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
- must enjoy working in a people oriented and socially interactive environment
- flexible availability, including weekends and occasional holidays
Job Duties
- Promptly greet and interact with customers, staff, and volunteers in a friendly and warm manner
- take orders, apply discounts, process card transactions, handle cash, and operate the POS with accuracy
- prepare coffee, tea, and other specialty beverages according to customer specifications
- maintain cleanliness and organization of the cafe areas according to daily cleaning checklists and SOP’s, including prep stations, equipment, utensils, etc.
- execute daily opening and closing procedures
- keep inventory fully stocked and properly rotated
- ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- keep accurate records of spoilage and wastage
- communicate effectively with coworkers to ensure smooth, efficient operations and uphold a positive and inviting space
- maintain awareness of shelter programs, promotions, and procedures
- other duties as assigned
