Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous customer service or café experience preferred
  • strong communication skills
  • basic knowledge of coffee beverages and preparation
  • ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • physical stamina for extended periods of standing and manual tasks
  • ability to handle customer concerns and complaints professionally

Job Qualifications

  • Reading, writing and oral proficiency in English
  • willingness to work a flexible schedule
  • ability to work safely, prudently and in an organized manner
  • Serve Safe certification is a plus
  • ability to sit, stand, walk, and climb stairs for extended periods
  • physical ability to bend and lift up to 40 lb boxes occasionally

Job Duties

  • Conduct daily operation and monthly department meetings
  • sell coffee, accessories, and supplies
  • prepare and serve a variety of coffee drinks and café foods
  • welcome customers by determining their coffee interests and needs
  • educate customers about coffee drink menu and answer questions
  • explain differences in coffee beans and brewing machines
  • prepare coffee drinks following prescribed recipes and techniques
  • maintain inventory by replenishing supplies and restocking equipment
  • operate and troubleshoot equipment, perform preventive maintenance and communicate repairs
  • maintain safe and healthy work environment following sanitation regulations
  • improve store and coffee bar appearance
  • accept ownership of requests related to evolving café offerings
  • ensure all supplies are available for service
  • foster professional relationships with colleagues
  • label, wrap or date food products
  • slice fruits, vegetables, meats, or desserts for food service
  • take customer orders and communicate with other staff
  • pass food and beverage tests
  • address customer complaints and report to management
  • provide prompt and friendly customer service
  • report potential safety hazards
  • perform other job duties as requested by supervisors or managers
