Job Requirements

  • Valid Fayette County Food Handler License required for all food and beverage staff
  • Must be obtained before the first scheduled shift
  • Kentucky Horse Racing Commission license required for all track workers
  • This license will be provided in Keeneland's name at the time of hire

Job Qualifications

  • Previous experience as Beertender, Bartender, or Barback in a dynamic or high-volume environment
  • Practical knowledge of domestic and craft beer styles, alcohol degree, glassware, proper pouring techniques, and barrel cocktail preparation
  • Ability to serve basic dishes quickly and with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills with a warm and customer-focused attitude
  • Ability to lift barrels and boxes and stand for long periods under variable weather conditions
  • Must be over 20 years old and possess or obtain a valid Kentucky Alcohol Service Permit
  • Flexible availability including weekends, evenings, holidays, and Keeneland race days

Job Duties

  • Help with opening and closing tasks including storing garnishes, napkins, straws, and bar utensils to ensure availability for service
  • Maintain inventory by transporting and organizing beer, wine, liquors, ice, and other bar supplies using transfer documentation
  • Ensure all taps, barrel systems, and appliances work correctly
  • replace barrels as needed
  • Keep bar and prep areas clean and organized by cleaning surfaces, removing dirty glassware, emptying trash, sweeping/mopping floors, and sanitizing equipment
  • Support cocktail, juice, and mise en place preparation according to beverage leaders' instructions
  • Maintain excellent customer service and a positive attitude when interacting with customers, coworkers, or managers
  • Monitor product levels and communicate restocking needs to bartenders or managers to avoid shortages during service
  • Comply with all Keeneland safety, food safety, and sanitation policies
