Job Requirements
- Passion for the People, Place and Culture of our community, love of restaurants and guest service
- Minimum of 1 year experience as a Barback in either a free-standing or hotel restaurant or bar
- TiPS Alcohol service certification preferred
- Must meet local age requirements to serve alcohol
- Available to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
- Fluency in English verbally and non-verbally
- Ability to lift, balance and carry up to 25 lbs for beverage goods inventory and equipment
- Ability to lift, balance and carry with assistance up to 100 lbs
- Continuous standing and walking
- Ability to negotiate wet tile floors and steps
- Fine motor coordination to pour beverages, decorate cocktails and fold napkins
- Standing and walking continually for full shift
- Negotiating varied floor surfaces continuously
- Occasional carrying over shoulder
- Hand and elbow movements for polishing, setting up tables, shaking, pouring and mixing drinks
- Excellent sight and balance for floor navigation
- Handling lighted candles and hot fluids such as coffee and tea
- Ability to work occasionally in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10°F) and kitchens (+110°F)
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year experience as a Barback in a restaurant or bar setting
- TiPS Alcohol service certification preferred
- Knowledge of beverage and cocktail preparation
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
- Strong communication skills
- Demonstrated commitment to high standards of hospitality
- Ability to handle physical demands of the role
- Familiarity with safety and hygiene standards in food and beverage service
Job Duties
- Uphold and model the company’s principles of People, Place and Character
- Assist in all aspects of the Food and Beverage guest’s experience from beginning to end by extending a friendly greeting, ensuring bar products and supplies are well stocked, and executing on requests in a friendly and timely manner
- Work in an organized and clean fashion stocking the bar, racking kegs, filling ice bins, cutting garnishes, preparing juices, syrups and bases, etc.
- Use steps of service to provide professional service and exceed guest expectations, ensuring alcohol is served safely, responsibly, and legally and assisting in creating consistent cocktails, juices, syrups and bases
- Use good judgement when extending good will and demonstrate a sense of urgency to provide an amazing guest experience
- Have an understanding of basic culinary terms and strive to know more through constant study of your craft
- Participate in daily line ups and quarterly all staff meetings to develop ideas and strategize with the service team
- Observe conditions of physical facilities and report any challenges to Food and Beverage leadership
- Communicate effectively with Food and Beverage and Culinary teams to ensure timely delivery of food and drinks
- Assist in other areas of the Food and Beverage Department as needed
