Job Requirements
- Fluent in English speaking, reading, and writing
- Flexible availability including nights and weekends
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Valid driver's license required
- Minimum of 2-3 years guest service experience in full-service hotel, restaurant, or high-profile bar
- High standards of quality and organization
- Complete knowledge of service industry policies and sanitation procedures
- Food Handler's Certificate required by the County
- TIPS training is a plus
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma preferred
- Minimum age to serve alcohol
- Courteous, friendly personality and professional appearance
- Knowledge of menu items including beers, wines, cocktails, and liquors
- Basic math and computer skills
- Strong problem solving, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle tense situations calmly and rationally
- Responsible and punctual
- Ability to meet physical and scheduling demands including walking, standing, lifting heavy items for extended periods, and working nights, weekends, and holidays
Job Duties
- Assisting with opening and closing duties such as restocking garnishes, straws, and napkins
- Ensuring bartenders have clean towels and glassware
- Ensuring the bar is well-stocked with ice, liquor, wine, and beer
- Checking taps and appliances for proper operation and making minor repairs or changing kegs
- Keeping the bar clean by wiping surfaces, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing coolers and storage areas, and emptying trash receptacles
- Learning about menu items and memorizing cocktail recipes
- Taking orders, preparing drinks, bussing tables, opening tabs, and processing payments during peak hours
- Speaking to customers, answering questions, and handling complaints
- Maintaining records of inventory usage and assisting in reorder processes
- Performing bussing responsibilities such as clearing empty cups and trash from bar tops and tables
- Lifting beer kegs, holding trays of bottles and glassware, and standing for the duration of the shift
- Tolerating temperature changes from hot to cold environments
- Moving tables and chairs as needed during the shift
- Performing physical activities including sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling occasionally
- Exerting physical effort in transporting up to 50 pounds and reaching up and down as needed
