Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- previous experience in a bar or restaurant environment preferred
- ability to stand for long periods
- able to perform moderate physical activities such as lifting and cleaning
- effective communication skills in English
- willingness to work flexible hours including nights and weekends
Job Qualifications
- Must consistently be able to assess, anticipate and meet guests’ needs and respond quickly without losing focus or projecting a mood that detracts from the guests’ overall experience
- must clearly communicate in a professional manner with guests, vendors, coworkers and management
- must understand instructions, read written company memorandums and communicate when more direction or training is needed
- must adapt to different personalities of guests and coworkers
- must work well in a team-oriented environment
- must perform physical activities requiring moderate strength including cleaning, climbing, lifting, walking, balancing and handling of materials
- must be able to stand for long periods of time
- must recognize and resolve problems appropriately using good judgement, tact and initiative
- must have general accounting and mathematical skills along with point of sale application knowledge
- must operate mechanical devices such as POS systems, credit card machines and mixers correctly
- must evaluate current practices and processes and initiate ways to improve business methods and quality of products and services
- must be able to write and speak English effectively
- must be flexible and occasionally work overtime and assist with the workload of others if needed
Job Duties
- Greet and interact with guests in a friendly professional manner when applicable
- assist bartenders with all aspects of guest service
- smile and maintain a positive attitude at all times
- wash and sterilize glassware and other serving equipment at bars
- prepare garnishes for drinks
- maintain bottles and glasses in an attractive and functional manner to support efficient drink preparation and promotion of beverages
- maintain cleanliness in all areas of the bar including counters, sinks, utensils, shelves and storage areas
- report all equipment problems and bar maintenance issues to bar manager
- maintain and stock adequate supplies of bar items such as glasses, cups, napkins, drink supplies, condiments, etc
- stock refrigeration units with wines, beer, replace beer kegs, etc
- replenish ice at bar
- empty bar trash cans
- attend all scheduled employee meetings
- additional tasks as assigned
