Job Requirements

  • Prior experience in restaurant front-of-house roles
  • Knowledge of customer service principles

  • Valid alcohol service certification or willingness to obtain

Job Duties

  • Assist in hiring for a restaurant’s bar and waitstaff
  • Assist in the scheduling and training sessions of the servers, bartenders, hosts, and bussers
  • Supervise upkeep of guest areas by directing staff to attend to messes or accidents
  • Assisting in cleanup to maintain customer experience
  • Assist in shift planning to ensure each shift is properly staffed
  • Balance cash receipts
  • Keep a well-stocked bar with an adequate supply of liquor, beer, wine, mixers, ice, napkins, straws, glassware, and other accessories
  • Clean the bar, tables, chairs, and work area to maintain a sanitary environment
  • Organize the bar area to streamline drink preparation and inventory
  • Place orders for liquor, beer, wine, and other supplies
  • Slice, pit, and prepare fruit garnishes for drinks
  • Plan bar menus
  • Create unique drinks
  • Prepare and serve appetizers, snacks, or other food items for customers at the bar
  • Comply with all food and beverage regulations
  • Limit customer problems by restricting alcohol intake and curtailing inappropriate behavior
  • Check identification to verify legal age requirements for all customers
  • Satisfy patron requests in a timely manner
  • Assess customer preferences and make drink recommendations
  • Collect money for drinks served and provide change as needed
