Job Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must have the legal right to work in the country of employment
- Must be able to handle cash responsibly
- Must be physically able to stand and walk for prolonged periods
- Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays, and special events
- Must be willing to obtain necessary food handler and alcohol awareness certifications
- Must comply with all local, state, and federal laws governing alcohol service
- Must maintain a professional and hospitable demeanor at all times
Job Qualifications
- 2 years bartending experience within a full-service environment preferred
- Cash-handling experience is beneficial
- Fun, dynamic, and friendly personality
- Excellent communication, listening, and motivational skills
- Hospitable nature with a desire to provide service of the highest possible level
- Ability to work in areas with loud noises and confined spaces
- Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and special events
- Ability to stand and walk for prolonged hours and interact with guests and employees in a fast-paced, multitask environment in variable temperatures and weather conditions
- Must be able to pass a Food Handler and Alcohol Awareness exam within 30 days of employment
Job Duties
- Adopt an enthusiastic, assertive, and passionate approach to guest service and demonstrate the Merlin values at every opportunity
- Help develop and lead revenue generating initiatives and programs in conjunction with the leadership team
- Take, place, and serve orders in one or multiple sections
- Operate a POS ordering system, stay up to date with restaurant information such as operating hours and pricing, and take full responsibility for all tips handled as outlined in the Gateway tip policy
- Understand and meet all guest expectations and effectively communicate and provide services to guests in a friendly, efficient, and courteous manner
- Assist in set-up and tear-down of tables and service stations within the front and back of house
- Follow all state laws and license restrictions governing the sale and service of alcoholic beverages
- Ensure compliance of health, safety, and security within the workplace, including COVID-19 policies, practices, and regulations
