Job Description

The barback position is a crucial support role within the hospitality and beverage service industry, typically found in restaurants, bars, and event venues. Barbacks work behind the scenes to ensure that bartenders have all the tools and inventory needed to deliver efficient and exceptional service to guests. This role requires maintaining the bar area’s cleanliness, organizing stocked items, and assisting with the setup and breakdown of the bar. Job Requirements

  • At least 1 yr. experience in a mid to high volume outlet
  • Must be over 18

Job Qualifications

  • Good communication skills both speaking and understanding English
  • Display speed, accuracy, attention to detail, courtesy and anticipation of guests needs
  • Willingness to work long hours on feet in high pressure environment, handling multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Good physical condition and ability to bend, reach overhead, push and pull
  • Ability to perform repetitive use of hands and wrists, firm grasping, hands frequently in and out of water
  • Ability to listen to direction
  • Knowledge of beverage, wine and spirits helpful
  • High school diploma preferred

Job Duties

  • Maintain pars of supplies at the bar by stocking ice, paper products, to go cups, glassware, china for menu items, roll ups, etc
  • Keep bartender informed of items to be ordered on regular basis, anticipating business volumes
  • Acknowledge a guest if bartender is with another guest, relate guest orders to bartender
  • Respond to all requests from bartenders for priorities and assistance
  • Bring bar food from the kitchen to the bar for bartender to serve or to serve at the bartender's request
  • Help set bar wells when needed
  • Cut bar fruit daily as needed
  • Check all glassware for chips, spots, prints, soap residue, lipstick, etc
  • Assist in clearing the bar by returning all used plates and silverware to dish room as guests finish at the bar
  • Rinse blenders and other equipment as used
  • Rotate stock as needed
  • Know where all bar items are stored and maintain proper storage with organization and cleanliness
  • Understand and comply with all company, city and state liquor laws
  • Report to head bartender when arriving, prior to taking breaks and before leaving
  • Complete all assigned sidework and checklists as required, prior, during and after shift
