Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 6 months of relevant pastry or culinary experience depending on level
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods
- Physical ability to lift, carry, push, pull up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work under pressure
- Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to follow health and safety standards
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
Job Qualifications
- Minimum 6 months for entry level to 3 years for advanced relevant pastry or culinary experience
- Familiar with all pastry cooking techniques
- Culinary degrees or formal training preferred
- Familiar with batch and quantity cooking
- Able to use culinary tools including knives and commercial equipment
- Good taste and smell senses
- Eye and hand coordination to use kitchen equipment
- Basic math skills to understand and implement recipes and measurements
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment
- Ability to produce high volumes of work while maintaining quality per Omni standards
- Maintain professional business appearance, attitude and performance
- Flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
Job Duties
- Control quality and consistency of all food served
- Ensure functions are completed 30 minutes prior to service
- Ensure all food supplies necessary for service are in appropriate supply on a timely basis
- Responsible for production of sweet items, pastries, cakes, fruit compotes, breads, chocolates, etc. for all outlets as well as banquets and amenities
- Assist in producing and plating banquet pastries
- Maintain high quality at all times by inspecting all food products
- Check portion control, weights and counts prior to function
- Maintain and check cooking times and temperatures
- Follow all storage procedures when taking food out of walk-in and when returning food to walk-in
- Maintain cleanliness of work area at all times
- Keep walk-in, prep area and equipment up to health department and EcoSure standards
- Prepare all food items according to standard recipes and guest check specifications to ensure consistency
- Work well under pressure to meet production schedules and timelines
- Work effectively in a team environment, assisting where needed and offering assistance to others
- Perform other duties as assigned by culinary management
