Job Requirements

  • At least 2 years culinary experience in a hotel or restaurant kitchen
  • Previous kitchen supervisory experience preferred
  • Proven culinary skills
  • Ability to teach employees importance of guest interaction and problem solving
  • Ability to train staff to produce high volumes while maintaining quality
  • Familiarity with batch and quantity cooking in high-volume settings
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated with ability to work with limited supervision
  • Ability to write and perform daily prep lists and par sheets
  • Knowledge of sanitation standards
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs, push/pull up to 50 lbs, and stand for long periods
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work
  • Flexible to work nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Culinary degree or formal training preferred

Job Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills
  • Creative and knowledgeable of new concepts and food trends
  • Basic mathematical skills and ability to adhere to recipes
  • Ability to effectively train culinary staff
  • Self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision
  • Ability to write and perform daily prep list and par sheets
  • Working knowledge of sanitation standards
  • Eye and hand coordination to use kitchen equipment
  • Highly motivated self-starter focused on quality, organization, cleanliness, and teamwork
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and follow up
  • Culinary degree or formal training preferred
  • Must be able to utilize culinary tools and taste/smell
  • Maintain professional business appearance and attitude
  • Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Utilize a hands-on approach to training and developing kitchen staff
  • Ability to instill safety and sanitation habits in all employees
  • Teach employees the importance of consistency in preparation and presentation
  • Thorough knowledge of food handling and preparation techniques
  • Ensure the level of quality, portion control, and plate presentation is adhered to consistently
  • Supervise daily food preparation for assigned areas
  • Prep, stock, and rotate line to ensure ample supply of products is maintained
