Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • four years of progressive experience in food and beverage management, preferably in banquet or full-service restaurant setting
  • one year of supervisory experience
  • Texas class C driver's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
  • Texas Department of Health Food Protection Management certification or ability to obtain within six months of hire
  • Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission certification or ability to obtain within six months of hire
  • ability to pass drug test, driver's license check, criminal history background check, periodic CJIS background check if required, and social security number verification
  • ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, pull, and lift up to 25 pounds
  • regular and consistent attendance
  • ability to work indoors and outdoors with exposure to moderate noise and banquet equipment

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • four years of progressive experience in food and beverage management, preferably in banquet or full-service restaurant setting
  • one year of supervisory experience
  • knowledge of a wide variety of service styles including buffets, full service, concessions, and off-site functions
  • knowledge of alcohol service processes and procedures
  • knowledge of guest service operations
  • knowledge of food handling, service, and storage codes, practices, and procedures
  • skill in leading large teams of employees
  • skill in providing coaching, development and training to subordinates
  • skill in creating attractive set ups
  • skill in providing efficient and courteous guest services
  • skill in administering orderly clean up and assignment of side work
  • skill in communicating clearly both verbally and in writing
  • ability to obtain Texas Department of Health Food Protection Management certification and Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission certification within six months of hire

Job Duties

  • Directs, schedules, instructs, reviews and evaluates the work activities of assigned staff
  • makes hiring and dismissal recommendations
  • organizes upcoming events
  • determines staffing levels needed per event
  • orders event products
  • achieves budgeted results in labor and supply costs as related to Banquet Services
  • assists in training and developing staff to improve or expand service
  • works as a team leader promoting a positive work atmosphere of mutual respect with all catering personnel
  • ensures that all food is served according to established standards
  • completes quarterly small wares and service equipment inventory
  • works closely with the Food Sales and Service Supervisor and the Executive Chef to enhance operations and participate in the development of new programs
  • assists the kitchen staff with ordering supplies and projects related to guest services, ensuring high quality and cost effectiveness
  • maintains a safe and sanitary environment as outlined in the safety program and all local, state and national regulatory agencies
  • meets all City of Plano health requirements
  • assists in planning and development of budgets
  • assists with the Alcoholic Beverage Service program at the Plano Event Center to include product selection and ordering, staff training and development including TABC certification, and ensuring that standards of service and legal requirements are continually met
  • regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work schedule is essential
