Job Requirements

  • Two to three years experience in fine dining food service establishment
  • must be at least 21 years of age or of age specified by state alcohol control laws
  • fluent in verbal and written English
  • knowledge and ability to maintain state and federal health code standards
  • ability to understand and comply with safety precautions in the use of chemicals
  • ability to maintain good relations with staff and guests
  • ability to comprehend and follow instructions, make decisions without supervision and prioritize tasks
  • ability to memorize, recollect, and retrieve dates, names, times, and other data
  • ability to work under pressure and complete assignments on time
  • ability to converse calmly with irate guests, co-workers, and superiors
  • ability to add and subtract five digit numbers
  • ability to perform mathematical operations with units of measure including dollars and cents

Job Duties

  • Pick up and serve food and beverages in the manner prescribed by hotel standards
  • provide service throughout different events
  • complete assigned side work including folding napkins, cleaning and filling salt, pepper and sugar, polishing silver, glassware and other equipment
  • maintain and monitor freshness of products served including butter, milk, and coffee
  • maintain state and federal health code standards
  • prepare and arrange work area
  • ensure all tables and chairs are in good repair and arranged properly for specific function
  • ensure tables are set to specific standards
  • break down area at end of function
  • greet all guests upon arrival and welcome repeat customers by name
  • maintain safety and cleanliness of workstation
  • maintain and store all banquet equipment properly including china, silverware, glassware, tablecloths and napkins
  • interact courteously and professionally with guests and hotel staff
  • attend to guest requests or complaints and escalate as appropriate
  • handle equipment carefully to avoid breakage or damage
  • assist in seating guests when necessary
  • transport dirty dishes to dishwasher area when necessary
  • participate in and attend all departmental and hotel-wide meetings
