Job Requirements

  • Minimum age of 18 years
  • completion of TIPS training within 60 days of employment
  • fluency in English
  • ability to communicate legibly
  • ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods
  • ability to lift, carry and store approximately 30 pounds overhead
  • ability to bend, squat and reach frequently
  • ability to lift and carry server trays weighing approximately 50 pounds
  • ability to push and/or pull carts weighing approximately 200 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 18 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages
  • TIPS training certification within 60 days of employment

Job Duties

  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures and standards
  • maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment
  • anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day
  • maintain positive guest relations at all times
  • be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities in order to respond to guest inquiries accurately
  • resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction
  • monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas
  • maintain complete knowledge of service requirements for assigned function including pre-function side work, detailed menu selections and presentation, wine/champagne characteristics, prices for bar selections, station assignment and table set-up, group name/type of function/attendance, hours of service, special requests and VIPs
  • strictly abide by state liquor regulations
  • complete pre-function side work including quality and amount check of stock and supplies, transport supplies to service area, set linen/skirting, set tables, set up condiments and beverages, ensure sufficient silverware, prepare cold food as assigned, check cleanliness of stations
  • greet guests and assist with seating
  • take and record beverage orders using suggestive selling techniques
  • serve alcoholic beverages, open and serve wine/champagne
  • make coffee
  • serve all food and non-alcoholic beverages according to function requirements
  • clear courses
  • remove tabletop items and equipment
  • set up, monitor and breakdown coffee breaks, receptions and buffet tables
  • complete closing side duties including breakdown, cleaning, restocking, storing reusable goods, removing dirty linens, stocking condiments, and securing storage areas
  • adhere to payment, cash handling and credit policies
  • certify in TIPS training within 60 days of employment
