Job Requirements

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and/or holidays
  • Strong problem-solving and reasoning skills
  • Communication skills, written or verbal, in the primary language(s) used in the workplace
  • Basic reading, writing, and math skills
  • Ability to navigate necessary software and applications
  • Ability to comply with local laws regarding food handling or serving alcohol including passing the ServSafe Alcohol Safety class and exam
  • Knowledge of table service standards and appropriate table settings and service ware
  • Must be able to lift and transport items weighing up to 50 pounds regularly and maneuver carts or equipment up to 250 pounds occasionally
  • Must be able to perform well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours
  • Must be able to maneuver between tables and in tight spaces
  • Must be able to work in varying temperatures including extreme cold and heat
  • Must be minimum age to serve alcohol according to local laws
  • Must attend all scheduled training sessions and meetings
  • Must comply with Crowne Plaza Lansing rules and regulations

Job Qualifications

  • A high school or equivalent education is preferred
  • Minimum of six months of prior food service experience is preferred
  • Strong problem-solving and reasoning skills
  • Ability to comply with local laws regarding food handling and alcohol service including passing the ServSafe Alcohol Safety class and exam
  • Knowledge of table service standards and appropriate table settings and service ware
  • Familiarity with all menu items and methods of preparation
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in the primary workplace language
  • Ability to navigate necessary software and applications
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and/or holidays

Job Duties

  • Serve food and beverages using established hotel standards
  • Set up for events including place settings, décor, buffet lines, table linens, tables, and chairs
  • Complete all IHG and hotel training
  • Monitor guest behavior and alcohol consumption to determine when alcohol service should cease
  • Check identification of guests appearing under 40 years of age
  • Notify management of incidents involving excessive alcohol consumption or impaired condition of guests
  • Clean and maintain workspace including back hall, carts, storage closets, and event space
  • Engage with guests and colleagues using D.A.R.E. to connect behaviors
  • Follow hotel safety protocols and procedures
  • Report any safety or service incidents to the Restaurant Manager or Person in Charge
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
