Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in banquet or food service preferred but not required
- Ability to work flexible and varying schedules
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to comply with hotel rules and regulations
- Physical ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
- Willingness to work in an on-call position
Job Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations and etiquette
- Knowledge of appropriate table settings and service ware
- Basic knowledge of English sufficient to understand customer inquiries and communicate simple instructions
- Ability to comprehend and apply written product labeling instructions
- Ability to remember, recite and promote menu items
- Ability to transport up to 30 pounds continuously during shift
- Ability to operate beverage equipment such as coffee makers and rolling carts
Job Duties
- Set up banquet room as instructed by banquet captain to include linen, service-ware and glassware
- Attend roll call meetings before events to learn function particulars, including guest and hotel expectations
- Greet guests and respond to requests in a friendly and courteous manner
- Serve food and/or beverages in an order and to the expectation of the banquet captain to ensure consistency
- Promptly bus dishes as guests complete each course and/or meal
- Replenish beverages as necessary and check with guests for overall satisfaction
- Reset banquet room according to captain's specifications after event completion
