Job Requirements
- knowledge of various banquet room set up styles such as round and schoolroom tables
- familiarity with equipment such as projectors, movie screens, coffee urns, and food warmers
- ability to stand or walk up to 7 hours per day
- ability to occasionally perform repetitive hand motions
- ability to frequently lift or carry up to 50 pounds
- ability to move or push/pull goods weighing up to 500 pounds using hand carts or trucks
- ability to lift and move multiple tables, chairs, and podiums through crowded rooms
- ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders occasionally
- ability to work varying shifts and maintain attendance
- ability to comply with all hotel rules including safety and grooming standards
- strong communication skills in English
- ability to remain polite and professional in a fast-paced environment
- physical stamina and organizational skills required
Job Qualifications
- previous banquet porter experience preferred
- prior hospitality experience preferred
- high school diploma or general education diploma preferred
- certification of tuberculosis clearance required
- cpr and standard first aid certification preferred
- ability to obtain Hawaii Liquor Commission yellow card
- ability to complete HAZCOM/MSDS training
Job Duties
- set up banquet and convention functions including banquet props and decorations
- break down banquet and convention functions and return items to storage
- clean and maintain all banquet function areas and equipment
- replenish buffet lines and pupu tables
- assist kitchen staff with food handling
- set up audiovisual equipment for events
- communicate effectively with supervisors and team members throughout shifts
