Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • minimum two years of experience in event management, food and beverage, or related professional area
  • strong leadership capabilities
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • ability to handle guest complaints and resolve issues
  • knowledge of sanitation and safety regulations
  • capability to manage financial and inventory controls
  • proficient in scheduling and staff management
  • availability to work full-time hours
  • ability to work onsite at The Westin Pittsburgh
  • proficiency in participating and leading team meetings

Job Duties

  • Project supply needs for the department such as tables and banquet equipment
  • apply knowledge of laws related to events
  • manage banquet operations to maximize customer satisfaction
  • adhere to and reinforce standards, policies, and procedures
  • maintain established sanitation levels
  • manage departmental inventories and maintain equipment
  • schedule Event Services staff to meet service standards and maximize profits
  • assist in developing lasting relationships with groups to retain business and increase growth
  • set goals and delegate tasks to improve departmental performance
  • conduct monthly department meetings with the Banquet team
  • apply and broaden knowledge of food and wine pairings and current event trends
  • act as a liaison to kitchen staff
  • lead shifts and participate in servicing events
  • set a positive example for guest relations
  • interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels
  • respond to and handle guest problems and complaints
  • empower employees to provide excellent customer service
  • verify employees understand expectations and parameters
  • strive to improve service performance
  • emphasize guest satisfaction and focus on continuous improvement
  • review comment cards and guest satisfaction results with employees
  • communicate and execute emergency procedures and verify staff training
  • observe service behaviors and provide feedback
  • monitor progress and lead staff discussions
  • participate in corrective action planning
  • review Meeting Planner Survey results and develop improvement plans
  • attend and participate in all pertinent meetings
