Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- one to three months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- basic English literacy and arithmetic skills
- physical ability to stand, walk, talk and hear for extended periods
- ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach with hands and arms
- ability to lift and move heavy objects including cases of food and bulk bags weighing up to 50 pounds
- ability to sustain constant mental and visual attention
- ability to work in a kitchen environment with hot tools, hot plates, sharp knives, chemicals, and machinery
- willingness to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays
- compliance with safety standards including wearing non-slip shoes
- completion of required food safety and OSHA training
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- one to three months of related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- ability to read and write in English
- ability to perform mathematical computations such as adding and multiplying
- ability to prepare food items to specific requirements with no or minimal waste
- ability to calibrate a thermometer
- ability to cook meat to temperature
- ability to grill, saute, braise, sear, and roast
- ability to heat, chill, reheat, and maintain proper food handling temperatures
- knowledge of food preparation knife skills with a minimum of two years required
Job Duties
- Produces superior quality foods with short ticket times
- uses product efficiently and cost effectively
- supervises prep cooks and dishwashers to complete duties or dismisses if not needed
- maintains clean, sanitary, and well-stocked stations and coolers
- completes tasks efficiently under pressure while demonstrating teamwork and a positive attitude
- completes tasks in an organized manner with minimal supervision
- demonstrates excellent work ethic
- honors any supervisor's reasonable request
- wears company-issued uniform components properly and maintains them
- wears non-slip safety shoes
- complies with Embassy Suites, North Carolina State and Local Food safety laws
- completes required food safety course (SERV safe)
- completes OSHA Safety Data Sheets training including fire safety, hazardous waste, chemical spills and handling, choking, and weather and threat procedures
- prepares food using gourmet/specialty products ensuring cost effectiveness and quality and consistency
