Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Two years experience as a Banquet Chef, Chef de Cuisine, or Kitchen Supervisor, or equivalent education and experience
  • One to three years supervisory experience required
  • American Culinary Federation certification preferred
  • Current Food Handlers Card
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel
  • Ability to read and interpret industry-specific periodicals
  • Ability to understand standardized recipe format
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Strong oral communication skills
  • Ability to calculate food costs, pricing, discounts, inventory, and labor standards
  • Basic computational and budget analysis skills
  • Planning, problem-solving, decision-making, delegation, communication, time management, and employee development skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness
  • Initiative and independent decision-making based on sound judgment
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced environment
  • Flexible schedule with availability for evenings and weekends

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to respond effectively to staff and guest needs
  • Able to maintain high work standards with attention to detail and timeliness
  • Demonstrated initiative and sound independent judgment
  • Comfortable in fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
  • Flexible schedule including evenings and weekends

Job Duties

  • Communicate the core values and mission of BlueStar Resort & Golf to support company goals
  • Plan menus, create purchase orders, assure food safety and quality, and prepare menu items to meet guest expectations
  • Collaborate with Banquet Manager to confirm guest counts and budget appropriateness
  • Oversee kitchen equipment, food preparation, and cooking techniques, ensuring staff awareness
  • Respond to Banquet Manager and customer concerns
  • Develop positive customer relations through proactive team, guest, and supplier interactions
  • Lead kitchen team by example, fostering open communication, safety, and growth
  • Define and develop achievable goals for team performance and safety
  • Support hiring, training, scheduling, mentoring, and conduct performance reviews
  • Supervise staff according to company values, policies, and procedures, and recognize successes
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and collaborative work environment for food service staff
  • Represent the company professionally in dress and speech
  • Maintain standards of excellence by staying updated on new products, market trends, and education
  • Perform other duties as assigned
