Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Two years’ experience as a banquet chef, chef de cuisine, or kitchen supervisor, or successful completion of a nationally ranked culinary or vocational school or equivalent
  • One to three years’ supervisory experience
  • American Culinary Federation certification preferred
  • Current food handlers card
  • Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel
  • Ability to read and interpret food service periodicals
  • Knowledge of standardized recipe format
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to calculate food costs and understand profit and loss
  • Basic math and budgeting skills
  • Strong planning and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Must pay attention to detail and work under pressure
  • Ability to make independent decisions
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including evenings and weekends

Job Qualifications

  • One to three years supervisory experience required
  • American Culinary Federation Certified Chef de Cuisine or higher preferred
  • Current Food Handlers Card
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office including Excel
  • Ability to interpret food service periodicals
  • Ability to understand standardized recipe formats
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Effective public speaking skills
  • Ability to calculate food costs, menu pricing, inventory, labor standards
  • Understanding of profit and loss statements
  • Basic computational and budgetary analysis skills
  • Planning, problem-solving, decision-making, delegation, communication, time management, and employee development skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness
  • Ability to make independent decisions based on sound judgment

Job Duties

  • Communicate the core values and mission of BlueStar Resort and Golf to support company goals
  • Plan menus, create purchase orders, assure all food is safe and fresh, and prepare menu items according to standards
  • Collaborate with Banquet Manager to confirm guest counts and ensure budget and food quantity appropriateness
  • Oversee kitchen equipment, food preparation, and cooking techniques ensuring staff awareness
  • Respond to Banquet Manager and customer concerns
  • Develop positive customer relations through proactive interactions
  • Create an enjoyable work environment by leading by example and encouraging communication
  • Define and develop achievable goals for kitchen team members focusing on safety and growth
  • Support staff hiring, training, scheduling, mentoring, and performance reviews
  • Supervise staff aligned with company values, policies, and procedures
  • Create a safe, clean, and collaborative working environment for food service staff
  • Represent the company professionally in dress and speech
  • Maintain standards of excellence and pursue continual improvement
  • Attend culinary exhibitions, buying shows, and educational seminars as requested
  • Perform other duties as assigned
