  • Some college or technical training preferred
  • Culinary degree strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 5+ years experience in a high volume fine dining restaurant, hotel or country club
  • Food Handlers Permit must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date

Job Duties

  • Demonstrates skill in food preparation, garnishing, plate presentation and service in compliance with regulatory standards
  • Prepares hot food items for cafeteria, physician’s dining, catering and room service according to standard recipes and HACCP guidelines
  • Ensures all food items are labeled and dated correctly for quality and freshness
  • Safely handles and cleans knives and other necessary kitchen equipment
  • Maintains kitchen utensils, equipment and surfaces in a safe and sanitary manner following HACCP guidelines
  • Manages storage areas to ensure cleanliness, orderliness, and proper food rotation using FIFO
  • Communicates food quality issues, shortages or necessary substitutions to Team Leader or Supervisor promptly
  • Assists in inventory management, purchasing of food and supplies, menu development, and coordination of large catered events
  • Completes daily reports, cleaning checklists, and temperature logs accurately
  • Participates in recipe development
  • Performs other duties as assigned
