Job Requirements

  • Some college or technical training preferred
  • Culinary degree strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 5+ years experience in high volume fine dining restaurant, hotel or country club
  • Food Handlers Permit must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date

Job Duties

  • Demonstrates skill in food preparation, garnishing, plate presentation and service in compliance with regulatory standards
  • Prepares hot food items according to standard recipes and HACCP guidelines
  • Ensures all food items are labeled and dated correctly
  • Safely handles and cleans kitchen equipment
  • Maintains kitchen utensils, equipment and surfaces following sanitation guidelines
  • Keeps storage areas clean and orderly
  • Rotates food items using FIFO to maintain quality and remove outdated items
  • Communicates food quality issues and shortages to supervisors
  • Assists in inventory management, purchasing, menu development and catering coordination
  • Completes reports, cleaning checklists and temperature logs
  • Assists in recipe development
  • Performs other duties as assigned
