Job Requirements

  • Minimum 21 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages
  • High school graduate or GED or work equivalent
  • Must be TIPS, CARE, or equivalent certified or become certified by first day on the job
  • 2 years' experience in banquet food service
  • Good understanding of the English language
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal
  • Previous customer service experience
  • Basic arithmetic skills

Job Qualifications

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
  • 2 years' experience in banquet food service
  • knowledge of various food service styles such as French service, Russian service, Family Style service, and Butler style service
  • good understanding of the English language
  • good communication skills both written and verbal
  • previous customer service experience
  • basic arithmetic skills
  • certification in TIPS, CARE, or equivalent is required or must be obtained by first day on the job

Job Duties

  • Develop equipment maintenance schedules and arrange for repairs
  • evaluate new products for usefulness and suitability
  • monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas
  • check storage areas for proper supplies, organization, and cleanliness
  • review and understand the Banquet Event Order (BEO)
  • facilitate team setup assignments according to the BEO
  • ensure that tables have been set correctly and uniformly using clean, pressed linen, clean silverware, china, and glassware
  • confirm that table complements are properly cleaned and filled
  • learn the menu for each function served and explain major ingredients and preparation methods
  • assist guests and staff prior to function start time
  • acknowledge and respond to all guests' requests
  • keep station neat and clean during service
  • continuously patrol assigned station, refilling drinks and removing service items
  • ensure guests have everything they need
  • set up buffet and special food service tables and stations
  • break down buffet and special food service tables and equipment
  • set up, serve, and break down coffee breaks, receptions, and other special functions as assigned
  • set up, tend, and break down banquet bars according to policies
  • follow cash and guest check procedures
  • learn and apply all proper service procedures
  • assist co-workers whenever needed
  • stay updated with hotel events and guests affecting areas of responsibility
  • maintain responsible alcohol service certification
  • mix and serve alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks during banquet events
  • set up, service, break down, and clean all break areas and coffee break carts
  • present each break attractively and keep area clean
  • present breaks within BEO time parameters
  • prepare all beverages according to conference standards
  • secure beverage coolers and lockable storage at shift end
  • assist set-up staff if necessary
  • abide by all company, hotel, and departmental policies and procedures
