Job Requirements
- high school diploma or GED
- minimum 2 years experience in banquet food service
- minimum age of 21
- responsible alcohol service certification or willingness to obtain by the first day on the job
- good communication skills
- basic arithmetic skills
- ability to understand and apply company policies and procedures
Job Qualifications
- high school graduate or GED
- minimum 2 years experience in banquet food service
- must be at least 21 years old to serve alcoholic beverages
- certified or willing to become certified in responsible alcohol service (TIPS, CARE, or equivalent)
- knowledge of various food service styles including French, Russian, Family Style, and Butler service
- good communication skills both written and verbal
- previous customer service experience
- basic arithmetic skills
- good understanding of the English language
Job Duties
- develop equipment maintenance schedules and arrange for repairs
- evaluate new products for usefulness and suitability
- monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas
- check storage areas for proper supplies, organization, and cleanliness
- review and understand the Banquet Event Order (BEO)
- facilitate team setup assignments according to the BEO
- ensure tables are set correctly and uniformly with clean linens, silverware, china, and glassware
- explain menu items and preparation methods
- assist guests and staff at least 15 minutes prior to function start time
- acknowledge and respond to all guest requests
- keep station neat and clean during service
- continuously patrol assigned station, refilling drinks and removing service items and condiments
- ensure guests have everything they need
- set up and break down buffet and special food service tables
- set up, serve, and break down coffee breaks, receptions, and other special functions according to standard policies
- set up, tend, and break down banquet bars following policies
- follow cash and guest check procedures
- learn and apply all procedures of proper service
- assist co-workers when needed
- remain up to date with hotel events and guests as they affect areas of responsibility
- maintain responsible alcohol service certification
- mix and serve alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks during banquet events
- set up, service, break down, and clean all break areas and coffee break carts
- present breaks attractively and keep break areas clean throughout the day
- prepare beverages according to conference center standards
- secure beverage coolers and lockable storage at shift's end
- assist setup staff if necessary
- comply with all company, hotel, and departmental policies and procedures
