Job Requirements

  • Background check
  • Live Scan background check completed prior to employment
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Pre-placement physical examination
  • Satisfactory driving record under California DMV Pull Notice System
  • Availability to work varying schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Must drive university vehicles such as electric carts
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Must carry a university cell phone
  • TIPS California Responsible Beverage Server Certification preferred

Job Qualifications

  • Highly developed interpersonal communication skills including political acumen, social perceptiveness, and cultural responsiveness
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain productivity amidst interruptions and shifting priorities
  • Skill in engaging positively with guests, team members, and managers in a public setting
  • Demonstrated leadership in supervising staff and motivating teamwork
  • Competence in controlling costs and inventory for catering operations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, food service applications, and hospitality sales software
  • Ability to write grammatically correct business English correspondence
  • Working knowledge of food service safety and sanitation rules
  • Preferably knowledgeable about alcoholic beverages and various catering service styles
  • Familiarity with university policies on time reporting, payroll, and personnel

Job Duties

  • Provide leadership and supervision to banquet team during served events
  • Oversee execution of assigned events ensuring high customer service standards
  • Coordinate with bar manager on alcoholic beverage service
  • Maintain compliance with food handling and sanitation guidelines
  • Delegate tasks to staff to efficiently achieve departmental goals
  • Manage costs related to food, labor, and supplies
  • Utilize business and hospitality software for event management
