Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • minimum one year experience as banquet server or banquet captain
  • professional appearance and attitude
  • ability to communicate effectively in English
  • current Food Handler's Certificate
  • TIPS certification
  • ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • physical ability to perform job duties including lifting up to 20 lbs and prolonged standing
  • ability to work under minimal supervision

Job Qualifications

  • supervisory experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Communicates effectively in English both verbally and in writing
  • makes quick and accurate decisions
  • consults with Food Services Manager on serving arrangements and resource needs
  • supervises banquet servers
  • meets with Chef on Duty to review event orders, menu, and expectations
  • meets with clients to review menu and event itinerary
  • anticipates and responds promptly to customer needs
  • motivates servers and resolves conflicts
  • conducts staff lineup and inspections
  • prepares Captain's Reports
  • promotes highest level of customer service
  • enforces alcohol service policies
  • inspects function spaces for cleanliness and organization
  • observes food presentation
  • follows department policies and laws
  • manages consumption sheets
  • maintains orderly front and back of house
  • ensures completion of closing duties
  • provides staff performance feedback to management
  • fosters cooperative working climate
  • completes paperwork and closing duties
  • reviews status of assignments with management
  • notifies Manager of supply needs
  • performs all other assigned duties
