Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Prior Bakery/Deli Department experience preferred
  • Ability to operate bakery and deli equipment including baler, case cutter, slicer, fryer, and steam table
  • Must be 18 years or older to operate specific equipment
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Physical ability to stand on tile or concrete floors for up to 8 hours
  • Ability to move about the store for training and operational tasks
  • Commitment to follow health and safety regulations

Job Qualifications

  • Basic mathematical ability including add, subtract, multiply, divide
  • Ability to give and receive complex verbal and written instructions
  • Stability in work and educational history
  • Basic reading and writing skills in English
  • Preferred high school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior Bakery/Deli Department experience preferred
  • Experience operating bakery/deli equipment preferred
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Create a welcoming environment and assist customers with product inquiries
  • Recommend, hire, fire, discipline, promote, and evaluate Bakery/Deli personnel
  • Orient and train new employees and provide retraining as needed
  • Develop weekly labor schedules for department staff
  • Accurately record customer orders for bakery/deli items
  • Implement weekly display plans and promotional merchandising
  • Order bakery/deli products and supplies to maintain inventory
  • Operate cash register, scanner, and scale for customer purchases
  • Maintain department communication board and follow sampling program guidelines
  • Enforce health regulations and clean department equipment and areas
  • Supervise and perform baking of bakery items
  • Oversee cooler/freezer organization and merchandise inspection
  • Manage the movement and stocking of products
  • Ensure safety procedures with operating equipment are followed
  • Conduct inventory counts and price computations
  • Handle damaged or unsalable products appropriately
  • Communicate effectively with store management
  • Check case and cooler temperatures regularly
  • Prepare, display, and package bakery/deli products
  • Perform miscellaneous tasks and substitute as needed to support operations
