- Prior experience in a related job preferred
- Experience operating bakery and deli equipment preferred
Job Duties
- Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcomed and appreciated by answering all product questions
- Bake various products including breads, rolls, buns, cakes, pies, pastries, and brownies
- Wrap, package and sell bakery and deli products
- Accurately record customer orders for cakes and bakery items
- Process customer purchases using electronic cash register, scanner, and scale
- Review and follow department communications and guidelines daily
- Prepare and organize cooler/freezer and verify merchandise against invoices
- Adhere to all health codes and clean department areas and equipment
- Transport cases to sales floor or storage areas and stock merchandise with proper rotation and facing
- Ensure safety by practicing store safety rules and reporting hazards
- Operate equipment such as baler, case cutter, pallet jack, slicer, steam table, oven, fryer and stove according to age requirements
- Evaluate product quality and manage markdowns
- Check case and cooler/freezer temperatures four times daily
- Record out-of-stock conditions and report to manager
- Replenish inventory in deli/bakery display cases and counters
- Perform miscellaneous tasks as assigned including substitution for absent workers
