Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic mathematical skills
- Ability to read and write English
- Able to follow complex verbal instructions
- Good interpersonal communication
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work on tile or concrete floors for up to 8 hours
- Must be 18 years or older to operate certain equipment
- Work history demonstrating stability
- Prior experience preferred

- Experience operating baler, case cutter, cleaning/sanitation equipment, pallet jack, intercom, pricing gun, knife, slicer, scales, cash register, steam table, wrapper, fryer, and stove preferred
Job Duties
- Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcomed and appreciated by answering all questions regarding products sold in the department and throughout the store
- Bake products including breads, rolls, buns, cakes, pies, pastries, and brownies
- Wrap, package and sell bakery and deli products
- Accurately record customers' order requests for cakes and other bakery items
- Process customer purchases quickly and accurately by operating an electronic cash register, scanner, and scale
- Review the perishable department Communication Board daily and follow guidelines for Sampling Program and intercom announcements
- Prepare and organize cooler, freezer, and preparation areas for merchandise receipt, verify invoices, inspect deliveries, sort cases for stocking or preparation, and code date items
- Adhere to local, state and federal health codes and clean department including floors, mirrors, cases, tables, and equipment
- Transport merchandise to sales floor, cooler, freezer, preparation area using carts or pallets, open cases, place merchandise, check product freshness, face front, and rotate displays
- Assure safety by following store safety rules, reporting hazards, and promptly removing broken containers and debris
- Understand and safely operate equipment such as baler, case cutter, pallet jack, intercom, pricing gun, slicer, scales, wrapper, steam table, proofer, oven, convection oven, mixer, bread slicer, fryer, and stove
- Evaluate product quality in bakery and deli, manage damaged or unsalable products according to policy
- Check case and cooler/freezer temperatures four times daily and record
- Report out-of-stock conditions and replenish stock in all deli and bakery display cases and counters
- Perform miscellaneous tasks assigned, substitute for absent workers, and support department needs as required
