Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
basic mathematical skills
ability to follow complex verbal instructions
stable work and educational history
ability to read and write English
good interpersonal communication
prior experience handling bakery/deli equipment preferred
must be 18 years or older to operate certain equipment
ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks including standing for up to 8 hours
ability to work in varying temperature environments
reliable attendance and punctuality

Job Qualifications

Basic mathematical ability including add, subtract, multiply, and divide
able to give and receive complex verbal instructions concerning store and department policies and use of equipment
stable work and educational history
ability to read and write English including understanding instructions, labels, warehouse codes, and reports
good interpersonal communication skills
high school diploma or equivalent preferred
prior experience in related job preferred
experience operating baler, case cutter, cleaning equipment, pallet jack, intercom, pricing gun, knife, slicer, scales, cash register, steam table, wrapper, fryer, and stove preferred

Job Duties

Create welcoming environment by answering customer questions regarding products
bake breads, rolls, cakes, pies, pastries, and brownies
wrap and package bakery and deli products
accurately record customer orders for cakes and bakery items
process customer purchases quickly and accurately using electronic cash register, scanner, and scale
review department communication board daily and follow guidelines for Sampling Program and announcements
prepare and organize cooler/freezer/preparation area, verify and inspect merchandise delivery
adhere to health codes and clean department areas and equipment using cleaning chemicals safely
transport and stock merchandise on sales floor and in storage, ensuring product freshness and proper rotation
ensure safety by following store safety rules and reporting hazards promptly
operate baler, case cutter, pallet jack, intercom, pricing gun, slicer, scales, wrapper, steam table, proofer, oven, mixer, fryer, stove (with age restrictions)
evaluate product quality and manage damaged or unsalable products
check case and cooler/freezer temperatures four times daily and record
report out-of-stock conditions to manager
replenish inventory in deli/bakery displays
perform miscellaneous tasks and substitute for absent staff as assigned
