Job Duties

  • Prepare bakery and deli items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment
  • Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products
  • Inform customers of bakery and deli specials
  • Provide customers with fresh products and correct portion sizes to prevent shrink
  • Recommend deli or bakery items to customers
  • Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines
  • Prepare foods following temperature logs and cooking instructions
  • Measure, prepare and mix ingredients according to recipes using kitchen utensils and equipment
  • Package, label and inventory ingredients and merchandise
  • Check product quality, review "sell by" dates and take appropriate action
  • Maintain equipment including stove, computerized scale, fryer, steamer, robot coupe
  • Label, stock and inventory department merchandise
  • Report product ordering and shipping discrepancies to the department manager
  • Understand store layout to locate products when requested by customers
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
  • Gain and maintain product knowledge to respond to customer questions and make suggestions
  • Monitor inventory and stock conditions noting discrepancies
  • Ensure proper temperatures are maintained in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs
  • Promote trust and respect among associates
  • Create a welcoming environment for customers answering questions about products
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions
  • Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repairs
  • Report customer or employee accidents
  • Cooperate in high paced, sometimes stressful environment
  • Manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
  • Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve issues
  • Provide support to minors, individuals with special needs and older adults
  • Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
