Job Duties
- Prepare bakery and deli items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment
- offer product samples to help customers discover new items
- inform customers of bakery and deli specials
- provide customers with fresh products in correct portion sizes to prevent shrink
- recommend deli or bakery items to customers
- use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to guidelines
- prepare foods following food temperature logs and cooking instructions
- measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipe
- package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise
- check product quality and review sell by dates
- maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and keep temperature logs
- label, stock, and inventory department merchandise
- report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to department manager
- respond to customer questions and make product suggestions
- maintain awareness of inventory and stocking conditions
- reinforce safety programs and notify management of unsafe conditions
- practice preventive maintenance on equipment and notify management of repair needs
- report customer or employee accidents
- work cooperatively in high-paced, sometimes stressful environment
- manage conflict in a reasonable and cooperative manner
- act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
- follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues
- provide support through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
- maintain cleanliness and safety in the work environment to encourage customer return
