Job Duties

  • Prepare bakery and deli items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment
  • offer product samples to help customers discover new items
  • inform customers of bakery and deli specials
  • provide customers with fresh products in correct portion sizes to prevent shrink
  • recommend deli or bakery items to customers
  • use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to guidelines
  • prepare foods following food temperature logs and cooking instructions
  • measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipe
  • package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise
  • check product quality and review sell by dates
  • maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and keep temperature logs
  • label, stock, and inventory department merchandise
  • report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to department manager
  • respond to customer questions and make product suggestions
  • maintain awareness of inventory and stocking conditions
  • reinforce safety programs and notify management of unsafe conditions
  • practice preventive maintenance on equipment and notify management of repair needs
  • report customer or employee accidents
  • work cooperatively in high-paced, sometimes stressful environment
  • manage conflict in a reasonable and cooperative manner
  • act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
  • follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues
  • provide support through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
  • maintain cleanliness and safety in the work environment to encourage customer return
