Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous retail or food service experience preferred
  • Ability to obtain and maintain current food handler's permit
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks
  • Commitment to safety and food quality standards
  • Willingness to learn and follow detailed instructions

Job Duties

  • Prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment
  • Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products
  • Inform customers of bakery specials
  • Provide customers with fresh products in correct portion sizes to prevent shrink
  • Recommend bakery items to customers
  • Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, and ovens according to guidelines
  • Prepare foods following food temperature logs and cooking/baking instructions
  • Measure, prepare and mix ingredients according to recipes
  • Package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise
  • Check product quality and review sell-by dates
  • Properly use kitchen equipment such as stove, fryer, steamer, and computerized scale
  • Label, stock and inventory department merchandise
  • Report ordering/shipping discrepancies to department manager
  • Locate products within store upon customer request
  • Stay current with seasonal and special ads
  • Gain and maintain product knowledge
  • Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions
  • Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained
  • Promote trust and respect among associates
  • Create a welcoming environment for customers
  • Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines
  • Comply with safety procedures and report unsafe conditions
  • Display a positive attitude
  • Inspect equipment and report repair needs
  • Notify management of accidents
  • Report safety risks and illegal activities
  • Perform essential job functions with or without accommodation
