Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • ability to obtain current food handler's permit once employed
  • previous retail or bakery experience a plus but not required
  • outstanding customer service skills

Job Duties

  • Prepare bakery items per customer requests using proper equipment
  • offer product samples to customers
  • inform customers about bakery specials
  • provide fresh products in correct portion sizes
  • recommend bakery products to customers
  • use bakery equipment according to company guidelines
  • follow cooking and baking instructions
  • measure and mix ingredients
  • package, label, and inventory bakery merchandise
  • check product quality and freshness
  • properly use kitchen equipment such as ovens, fryers, and scales
  • stock and inventory merchandise
  • report ordering or shipping discrepancies
  • locate products for customers
  • stay current with seasonal and special ads
  • maintain knowledge of bakery products to answer questions
  • monitor inventory and stocking conditions
  • ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers
  • promote a positive and respectful work environment
  • create a welcoming atmosphere for customers
  • adhere to all food safety regulations
  • comply with safety procedures and report unsafe conditions
  • display a positive attitude
  • perform preventive maintenance on equipment
  • notify management of accidents or unsafe incidents
