Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a current food handlers permit
  • Prior experience in customer service preferred
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Basic math proficiency
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions
  • Reliable transportation to work
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Must comply with all safety regulations and policies

Job Duties

  • Prepare bakery items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment
  • Offer product samples to customers to help discover new items
  • Inform customers of bakery specials
  • Provide fresh products with correct portion sizes to prevent shrink
  • Recommend bakery items to customers to ensure satisfaction
  • Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, and ovens according to guidelines
  • Prepare foods following food temperature logs and baking instructions
  • Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipes
  • Package, label, and inventory ingredients properly
  • Check product quality and review sell-by dates
  • Operate kitchen equipment including stove, fryer, steamer, and computerized scale
  • Stock and inventory department merchandise
  • Report product ordering or shipping discrepancies
  • Locate products within the store upon customer request
  • Stay current with seasonal and special advertisements
  • Maintain knowledge of products sold and provide suggestions
  • Monitor inventory and stocking conditions
  • Ensure proper temperature maintenance in cases and coolers
  • Promote trust and respect among associates
  • Create a welcoming environment for customers
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • Comply with safety procedures and report unsafe conditions
  • Display a positive and professional attitude
  • Perform preventive equipment maintenance and report repairs needed
  • Notify management of customer or employee accidents
  • Report all safety risks and illegal activities
  • Perform essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
