Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous retail or bakery experience preferred
  • excellent communication skills
  • ability to stand for extended periods
  • ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • availability for flexible scheduling

Job Duties

  • Prepare bakery items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment
  • offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products
  • inform customers of bakery specials
  • provide customers with fresh products and the correct portion size to prevent shrink
  • recommend bakery items to customers
  • use all bakery equipment according to company guidelines
  • prepare foods according to temperature logs and cooking/baking instructions
  • measure, prepare and mix ingredients according to recipe using kitchen utensils and equipment
  • adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients in merchandise
  • check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell by dates
  • properly use kitchen equipment including stove, computerized scale, fryer, steamer, robot coupe
  • label, stock and inventory department merchandise
  • report product ordering/shipping discrepancies
  • understand store layout to locate products for customers
  • stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
  • gain and maintain knowledge of products
  • maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and note discrepancies
  • ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs
  • promote trust and respect among associates
  • create a welcoming environment for customers by answering product questions
  • adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • comply with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions
  • display a positive attitude
  • practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repair needs
  • notify management of customer or employee accidents
  • report all safety risks or illegal activity
  • perform essential functions of this position with or without accommodation
