Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in customer service or food handling preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members
  • Willingness to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to follow food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Ability to use bakery equipment safely
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to obtain food handler's permit once hired

Job Duties

  • Prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment
  • Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products
  • Inform customers of bakery specials
  • Provide customers with fresh products and correct portion sizes to prevent shrink
  • Recommend bakery items to customers
  • Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, and ovens according to guidelines
  • Prepare foods according to food temperature logs and follow cooking/baking instructions
  • Measure, prepare and mix ingredients using kitchen utensils and equipment
  • Package, label and inventory ingredients and merchandise
  • Check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell by dates
  • Properly use kitchen equipment such as stove, computerized scale, fryer, steamer, robot coupe
  • Label, stock and inventory department merchandise
  • Report ordering/shipping discrepancies to department manager
  • Locate products when requested by customers
  • Stay current with seasonal and special ads
  • Gain and maintain product knowledge
  • Monitor inventory and stocking conditions
  • Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and logs
  • Promote trust and respect among associates
  • Create a welcoming environment for customers
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • Comply with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions
  • Display positive attitude
  • Perform preventive maintenance and notify manager of equipment needing repair
  • Report accidents, safety risks, illegal activity
  • Perform essential functions with or without accommodation
