Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • previous retail or bakery experience helpful
  • ability to stand for extended periods
  • ability to lift and handle bakery products safely
  • excellent communication skills
  • attention to detail and organizational skills
  • ability to follow food safety guidelines
  • must be able to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • ability to obtain food handler's permit after employment

Job Duties

  • Prepare bakery items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment
  • offer product samples to help customers discover new bakery items
  • inform customers of bakery specials
  • provide customers with fresh products and correct portion sizes
  • recommend bakery items to ensure customer satisfaction
  • use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, ovens according to guidelines
  • prepare foods following temperature logs and cooking/baking instructions
  • measure, prepare and mix ingredients using kitchen utensils and equipment
  • prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise
  • check product quality for freshness and review sell-by dates
  • use kitchen equipment including stove, scale, fryer, steamer, robot coupe
  • label, stock and inventory department merchandise
  • report product ordering or shipping discrepancies
  • understand store layout to locate products upon customer request
  • stay updated with current, seasonal, and special ads
  • maintain product knowledge and respond to questions
  • monitor inventory and stocking conditions
  • ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers
  • promote trust and respect among associates
  • create a welcoming environment for customers
  • adhere to food safety regulations
  • reinforce safety programs and notify management of unsafe conditions
  • display a positive attitude
  • perform preventive maintenance and report equipment needs
  • notify management of accidents
  • report safety risks or illegal activities
  • perform essential functions with or without accommodation
