Job Duties

  • Prepare bakery items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment
  • offer product samples to help customers discover new items
  • inform customers of bakery specials
  • provide customers with fresh products in correct portion sizes to prevent shrink
  • recommend bakery items to customers
  • use all bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, and ovens according to company guidelines
  • follow food temperature logs and cooking/baking instructions
  • measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipe using various kitchen utensils and equipment
  • adequately prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise
  • check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell-by dates
  • properly use kitchen equipment including stove, computerized scale, fryer, steamer, robot coupe
  • label, stock, and inventory department merchandise
  • report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to department manager
  • locate products when requested by customers
  • stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads
  • gain and maintain knowledge of products sold in the department and respond to customer questions
  • maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and report discrepancies
  • ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs
  • promote trust and respect among associates
  • create a welcoming environment for customers
  • adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
  • comply with safety procedures and notify management of unsafe conditions
  • display a positive attitude
  • perform preventive maintenance on equipment and notify management of repair needs
  • report customer or employee accidents
  • report all safety risks and illegal activities
